      • Saving Mark Records: Marked records can be saved now, this is a new feature which is released in this version.         • Introducing Search Term Analysis a new analytical tool which allows user to search for a particular term from the title, abstract, keyword and/or topic, system then will retrieve information about its authors and institutions etc. This feature will find synonyms for the term also perform a stemming search. The data retrieved for analysis is shown on different graphs and charts. For example, let’s search for a term ‘Genetic’ system will retrieve all its synonyms like ‘hereditary’, ‘biology’, ‘transmitted’ etc. present in ICI database, in addition to synonyms ICI will do a stemming search for ‘genetic’.       • ICI data migration to a higher version of Microsoft SQL12 is complete. This is currently under testing and will be released in “Live” November 2013. Performance of ICI with respect to searches and other analysis will be much faster. The hardware is also being upgraded to give better performance.
      • New Journals: Planned to add five new journals in next release (November 2013), out of these five at least two will be from Open Access journals.
      • Registered User Management System: ICI registers about 150 – 200 new users per month; these users are given free access to ICI for a month. The renewal process of these registered users will be automated, to make this process more efficient for faster renewal. Work is going on this.

      • Register user page:
        • Register new user page has been enhanced by resolving browser compatibility issues. The most common compatibility issue faced was with incremental search list for institutions, it only works with on IE8, in browsers this may or may not work. Now it’s fixed.
      • Journal Analyzer:
        • Now this feature or page is compatible with browser. On Mozilla - Firefox incremental search list always had a problem, plus there were other features which were not working earlier, currently JAR page is compatible with browser.
      • Renewal Request:
        • Renewal Request new user is a new page. This feature would help user to log request for renewal of free trail for ICI.
        • Once access is expired user will be redirected to renewal request page where a new request can be logged or check the status of an existing request.
        • The logged renewal request would be processed by ICI team and a confirmation mail would be sent to user.
      • Home page:
        • Enhanced and more user friendly main menu option: Displays main options and remaining search options under "More" menu.

        • This feature of ICI is faster and user friendly compared to the previous version of DC.
        • Collapsible panel: Allows the user to view comparing Institutions and the graphs prominently.

      • Institute analyzer:
        • Sync between searched institutions and selected ones for comparison. So if an institute from analyzed list is deleted it gets removed from search list, keeping both list in sync.

      • ICI – Search from home page: Further enhancements has been made for the searches executed from ICI home page. Search for title, abstract and keyword will retrieve the results faster. Refine Search (search within search) has also been optimized to give a better response.
      • Subject Category: Enhancements has been made for subject category to display the data properly with graphs. Now every subject category data will be presented through proper graphs and other details.
      • Journal Analyzer Report (JAR), beta version of this feature has already been released, we have provided restricted access to users to generate Journal Analysis Report.
      • DOI number: The DOI (Digital Object Identifier) which uniquely identify an object such as an electronic document like title of a journal is now displayed in ICI along with other details. The DOI number is hyper linked to a source title, if the publisher has given a valid DOI then ICI will be able to access the title or full text from its source.
    • Current Data status:
      • Count of Index titles have reached 297 thousand
      • We are glad to inform that our reference count has crossed 5 million mark.

    • ICI - Journal Analyzer Report (JAR) Beta.
    • Beta version of Journal Analyzer Report released for ICI, this new functionality has some interesting analytical features like:
      • A comparative analysis of different journals in terms of articles published, citation received, count of self citation etc.
      • Research Influence Indicator (RII) it is calculated, as an average number of citations received per paper published in that journal during the two preceding years.
      • Gives a detailed analysis of journals covered under different subject categories.
      • A comparative analysis between article published and citation received for the same period.
      • Journal can be searched either by title or expression that appears in source/journal, also can be searched on ISSN or journal name.
      • List of journals searched can be filtered by subject categories or publishers.
    • Publisher page enhancement:
      • User interface has been enhanced to help publisher to upload data. A stepwise guidance is provided to let the user know how to upload data for existing/new publication.
      • Resolved some issues on the publisher page.

      • ICI – Search from home page: We have been working on a new search engine for a long time, and finally it’s released in this version. Search from ICI home is much faster in terms of it response time. Refine Search (search within search) has also been optimized to give a better response.
      • Institution Analyzer: It gives a comprehensive and detail analytical data for any institution. We have implemented new design architecture for the database, which resulted in faster retrieval of records for analysis. Similar architecture design pattern will be implemented for other features in future releases. We have also included tool tips in Institution Analyzer so that users will be able to operate without going through user manual (reading user manual/help is always recommended).
      • Citation Report has modified to present data properly in a graph and display h-index accurately.

    • Enhancements: Though there are no new features being added in this release but there are number enhancements being done in the current version.
      • Data Comparer has been optimized to display results faster. Further enhancement is going on for this feature. This is an unique feature to ICI and no other database gives a comparative analysis between different institutions.
      • The layout of ICI home/search page has been changed; tab sequence has been modified.
    • Data:
      • Index titles have reached 270 thousand, more than 4.6 million references.
      • In this release 10,000+ new titles and more than two thousand referencesare uploaded in current version.

    • Upcoming new features (Dec 2012 – January 2013):
      • Design and development started on Journal Analyzer Report (JAR), this will be new feature from ICI. A complete analysis report in terms of number articles, citations, Research Influence Indicator (RII), comparative analyses reports between different journals and other details will be available through JAR.
      • Journal Analyzer Report (JAR) has been prioritized instead of Author analyzer.
      • Enhancement started for Institution Analyzer which will be released in Dec 2012, which will much faster and provide with other information

      • New FTP options has been provided for Publisher to upload their journals( new or currently indexed in ICI)

      • Added 3300+ new titles and 71 thousand new references.
      • Currently there are 240 thousand indexes and 4 million references.
      • We are nearing the completion of institute cleanup, this is done to bring in a consistency while naming institutions so that it would help the users to compare and analysis the data correctly.
      • Due to mismatch between source titles and references, lots of references were not linked to its source title thus losing out on citations. We are in process of cleaning this type of data errors, to provide missing citations for articles.
      • Journals which are not published on time are now dropped from Indian Citation Index, this is done to main quality standard.

      • A Beta Version of Institution Analyzer is released. It is a comprehensive analytical research and study tool to analyze institution; for instance "Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi)" can be analyzed in terms of:
        • Number of articles published from IIT – Delhi
        • Correlation between published articles and number of citation received (Citation Density)
        • Details of authors whose papers are published from IIT – Delhi
        • Count of citations received by an author from IIT - Delhi
        • Details of publication for the papers from IIT – Delhi
        • Number of citations received for each publication where titles are from IIT – Delhi
        • List of top 50 institutions from India which has the max number of papers submitted.
